"Study of Wonders": Ocean-Inspired Elegance. 27/02/2024

Neomi Hodge, one of our talented graduates, presents her captivating Final Major Project titled "Study of Wonders."

Inspired by the enigmatic creatures that emerge under the moon's gentle glow, this project is a celebration of femininity and an invitation to embrace the upcoming summer season.

In a poetic twist, "Study of Wonders" encourages us to find solace in the darkest moments. Neomi shines a spotlight on the hidden marvels of nature that thrive in the deep abyss—the graceful jellyfish and resilient plankton. These creatures, like celestial lanterns, illuminate the black expanse of space.

Neomi's resort collection features exquisite prints and ocean-inspired jewels. With a nod to the roaring twenties, it reimagines vintage glamour for the modern woman.

Step into this enchanting world where darkness reveals its own kind of radiance.

Dive into wonder. Explore the depths. "Study of Wonders" awaits you.

Neomi, our talented fashion designer and Class of 2022 graduate, has set sail for the vibrant shores of Miami and has created her own brand—Maison Hodge.

Fashion Recreation, a project in collaboration with the Museo del Automóvil y la Moda de Málaga. 02/02/2024

Thanks to this project, our 2024 Fashion Design intake had the pleasure of visiting the museum in the past weeks and personally selecting the displayed garment they wanted to study and reproduce.

The project required the students to create a garment using alternative techniques and materials, without using traditional fabrics. They also had to tailor the garment without sewing it.

On Tuesday, they proudly presented their own versions of these garments alongside the originals at the museum.

Our students chose and recreated outfits from renowned designers such as Paco Rabanne, Frida Giannini, Jean Paul Gaultier, Pierre Balmain, Louis Scherrer, and Valentino.

Great job on their first assignments. Congratulations to our first-year Fashion students!

We would like to express our gratitude to the Museo Automovilistico y de la Moda de Málaga for opening their doors to our fashion department.

Their outstanding efforts in collecting and preserving such a historic fashion collection in impeccable condition are truly appreciated.

Statement Collection! 19/01/2024

At the end of last term, our first-year student Tosca presented us with her " Chaos " statement collection. Inspired by the style of Andy Warhol, she created an outfit that communicates the state of chaos that some people may feel when contemplating the daily news, in a maximalist fashion style.

Curious about how Tosca came up with and created this outfit? Check out this one-minute video where she takes you through the entire process, from the original concept to the final creation of the outfit.

This collection truly expresses the essence of a powerful and self-assured woman, making it a must-have for those seeking to make a bold statement with their fashion choices.

Fashion Recreation Presentation at the Museo Automovilístico y de la Moda de Málaga! 16/05/2023

One of our early first-year Fashion Design projects, organized in cooperation with the Museo Automovilístico y de la Moda de Málaga, involved creating an iconic garment without using traditional or advanced sewing techniques.

Thanks to this project, our January 2023 Fashion Design intake had the pleasure of visiting the museum in the past weeks. They personally selected the displayed garment they wanted to study and reproduce.

Today, they proudly presented their own versions of these garments alongside the originals at the museum.

Our students chose and recreated outfits from renowned designers such as Versace, Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Prada, and Coco Chanel.

Last Friday was an unforgettable day for our Fashion Design students as they had the unique opportunity to visit the Mayoral Central Headquarters, located in Málaga, Spain.

As one of the Spanish leaders of textile fashion, Mayoral gave our students a warm welcome and a sneak peek into their upcoming projects.

Our students had the chance to witness the overall design and production process, from the buying department to the tailoring process, and even the logistic department and installations.

They were introduced to many different stages of collection development such as mood boards, mannequin fitting tests, pattern creation, and more.Mayoral's attention to detail was outstanding, leaving a lasting impression on our students.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Mayoral staff for organizing such a fantastic visit, and we hope to bring our first-year students next year for an equally amazing experience.

Fashion Design & Manufacture 3rd-year final presentations. 10/05/2022

If you wonder what a Fashion Design & Manufacture presentation is like at Marbella Design Academy, here is the answer to your question. You can watch below the 11 final projects presented yesterday by our students in Marbella Design Academy plaza!

Mood board, design process, development and a lot more is displayed below!

The catwalk photos of these collections are on our News page!

Are you ready for Diana Dillner's denim upcycling collection "Perfect Blue"? 11/04/2022

Her collection signature style is based on 90s Japanese art and culture, and includes a mix of patches, colours, and bold and delicate fabrics in a captivating play of colour contrast.

This collection is all about upcycling: All the materials are hand-cut from recycled jeans, then re-used & hand-sewn to create these extravagant pieces.

Diana defines her collection as an affirmation of the constant exploration of one's identity.

"Secret Garden" at the Almeria Fashion Week. 22/03/2022

"Wabi - Sabi" is one of our latest final collections presented by our now graduate student, Sofia Vesterinen from Finland. 29/01/2022

"With this collection, I wanted to take a stand against the pursuit of unrealistic perfection that is often causing us to have insecurities or negative thoughts. By taking those thoughts and turning them into something positive by showcasing little flaws as an important part of the whole, it creates another way to think and to perceive yourself.

Wabi-sabi means finding beauty in imperfections, which reflects the meaning and message behind the collection perfectly."

Sofia chose to film her collection video by some of the Malaga signature monuments in its historic center, creating a unique atmosphere for her presentation.

If you like Sofia's collection, you can find out more about her designs on her professional Instagram profile,  www.instagram.com/vesterinendesigns/ , or have a read through her project workbook below.

Class of 2021 Fashion Showcase! Here is the official video! 07/09/2021

Whilst the majority of other Design Universities remain online, over the last academic course Marbella Design Academy has kept all classes in physical format, with students able to access the workshops and use all the facilities. Students have continued to receive direct attention from teachers and technicians and they have been able to continue to develop all their academic projects, uninterrupted by the Pandemic.

Thanks to our location, our building of approximately 2000 m2, and our spacious fashion studios, our students have been able to continue working safely.

Not only did our 2nd and 3rd-year students produce and present their final collections, but we could also celebrate a Fashion graduation reception at Marbella Design Academy, along with a fashion catwalk organized by our great team of Fashion tutors.

Taking advantage of the open spaces of the Academy´s beautiful terrace, the Fashion graduates showcased their final collections under the clear blue sky of Andalucia, to a select audience of local industry leaders and media, and a few close family and friends.

It was a considerable achievement and a fitting culmination to three years of study.

Congratulations to our Fashion Design Class of 2021!

"Off the Grid", SS2021 Ready-to-Wear collection by Rayan Joon. 17/08/2021

For his final collection, Rayan chose to design a clubwear collection inspired by the 90s fashion aesthetic. The result is a modern and young fashion proposal, strongly influenced by the post-punk and techno movements that were key in developing his collection.

Discover the "Off the Grid" collection in this video clip, filmed and edited by our Graphic Design & Media student, Audur Gudmundsdottir.

Discover the "Secret Garden". 26/07/2021

The "Secret Garden" collection by Ksenia Korotkova is inspired by the gardens of Rococo times, where people used to spend most of their time playing, dating, or meeting secretly with their lovers.

Secretive areas of these extensive gardens inspired Ksenia to use black as the main colour for her collection combined with white for contrast.

Silhouettes and prints of the Rococo dresses were also being used to create this intimate atmosphere, that Ksenia managed to portray in her final collection presentation video.

Judge for yourself.

Congratulations to our Fashion Design Class of 2021! 05/07/2021

We celebrated our Fashion graduation reception a few weeks ago here at Marbella Design Academy, along with a fashion catwalk organized by our great team of Fashion tutors.

It is a gender-free, sustainable, recycled, and eco-friendly collection.

Neomi's Vlog: 1st-year final collection from a student perspective! 31/08/2020

What is it like creating your own final collection as a 1st-year Fashion student at Marbella Design Academy?

Neomi, from Saint Martin, is one of our accelerated programme Fashion students at Marbella Design Academy, and over this summer she filmed a vlog during the creation of her final collection in order to share her experience from a student perspective.

We put her different vlogs together into a single video that will lead you through the all processes, which include: brief, research, sketches, mood board, flat drawings, patterns, toiles, sewing, painting, fabric shopping, tracing, cutting, pinning, and finally, photo shooting.

We think it was well worth all the time and effort and that the result is great.

Check the video and judge it by yourself.
