We are going to Ro Plastic Prize 2021! 04/08/2021

We are delighted to announce that one of our 1st Year BioDesign group projects, has recently been selected to be among the finalists of the 3rd edition of the Ro Plastic Prize 2021.

The Ro Plastic Prize 2021 will be part of Milano Design Week from 3 - 12 September, and our student project will be exhibited in the "Leonardo da Vinci" Science and Technology Museum.

The BioDesign Assignment aims to use innovative transformed materials, researched and developed by our students at Marbella Design Academy, to create objects that are normally used in our day-to-day life, and in order to reduce the environmental impact.

The project selected is the "The-Hand-Of-Bag" project by Anna Rebecca Schmalbach, Mayliss Widmer, Sara Edrisova, Yasmine Hussain and Þórdís Timila Guðmundsdóttir.

It is a minimalist and multifunctional bag using organic waste, orujo, gelatine, and natural rope. It can be used as a shopping bag or resistant carrier bag.

Not only is the final product 100% reusable and recyclable, but its production also helps support the local Spanish market in the Marbella region.

Good luck in the finals on 9 September!

Monika Kis is one of the winners of the Green Product Award 2021! 17/04/2021

We are delighted to announce that the Bio Leather project by our 2nd Year student Monika Kis is one of the winners of the Green Product Award 2021, in the Circular Materials product section.

Monica chose to create a biomaterial that could replace both real leather and the one we call "fake leather", both being popular in the fashion industry and harmful for the environment.

This new product based on organic onions, black pepper and a few more natural ingredients could help to decrease the impact of plastic and non sustainable fabric material on the environment.

Not only is it sustainable, but it also provides natural organic based benefits for skin health.

Face masks created through this bioleather would have anti inflammatory properties that would not only reduce the acne, but also treat it."

The onion bio leather is proving to be a versatile material able to replace natural and artificial leather from the market, while reducing inflammations produced by pollution, bacteria and smoke.

Congratulations Monica for this great achievement!
